Do the actual products look the same as they do on the website?
Ruby Red Skipper products are made by hand, so there will be variations within the products. Tea towels are approximately 16” by 24”, but some may be slightly larger or smaller. They are made from flour sack linen, which has a nubby surface texture. Sometimes the flour sack material has a slight beige or ivory cast to it rather than being pure white. Also, because of the nature of flour sack, the tea towels don’t always have a perfectly rectangular shape. This adds to their charm and is typical of tea towels from the 1800s! Because these are silk screened by hand, ink coverage may vary. We have made every attempt to accurately photograph the ink colors used on the tea towels, but different computers and mobile devices may display the colors in a different shade.
Napkins are made from Czechoslovakian linen and have the typical nubby texture you would expect from a 100% linen product. They are approximately 17” x 17” but may vary in size by a small amount. They are quite pouffy when new but will relax and take on a different hand once they’ve been washed several times. Napkins are silk screened by hand, so there will be slight variations in ink coverage from napkin to napkin. Ink color may appear different on your computer monitor or mobile device than on our website.
How do I care for the products?
Wash tea towels and napkins in warm or cool water. Tumble dry at a low temperature. Both products will shrink considerably if too hot a setting is used. Tip: take the linen napkins out of the dryer before they are completely dry to prevent wrinkling.
Are your products made in the US?
You bet! All designs are drawn by hand in Brooklyn, NY. Printing is done in the US, primarily in NYC. Fabrics are sourced from outside the US but are cut and sewn in America.
